A minimally-invasive treatment to remove thread
and spider veins from the face and body.

Visible veins and vascular lesions on the face or body can be unsightly and affect your confidence. At Oatlands Aesthetics, we understand the impact these veins can have on your self-esteem and offer safe, results-led solutions to enhance your skin’s appearance.

How does Laser Vein Treatment work?

Our laser vein treatment utilises state-of-the-art technology to safely and effectively reduce visible veins, providing you with a clearer and more uniform skin tone without invasive surgery.

This minimally-invasive treatment involves the use of our medical laser: Cutera XEO, which works by targeting the haemoglobin in the blood vessels. The laser energy is absorbed by the haemoglobin, causing the blood vessels to heat up, close and gradually fade and disappear. This laser is precise enough to treat tiny spider veins and deeper blue reticular veins, ensuring comprehensive results and smoother, even-looking skin.

Laser Vein Treatment FAQs

1. What are the key benefits of laser vein treatment?

  • Non-invasive treatment with no need for incisions or injections.
  • Quick and effective sessions with visible improvements noticed within 2-4 weeks.
  • Minimal downtime and discomfort – a mild warming sensation may be experienced.
  • High success rate in reducing vein visibility.

2. Am I suitable for laser vein treatment?

The Cutera laser effectively removes unwanted veins from various parts of the face and body.

It can treat small facial veins, known as telangiectasia, and it also provides excellent results for spider veins and larger blue leg veins. Laser vein treatment is not suitable for raised veins such as Varicose veins.

At your initial consultation at Oatlands Aesthetics, we will assess your veins and discuss your medical history to ensure laser vein treatment is safe and effective for you.

3. Is laser vein treatment painful?

Laser vein treatment is designed to be comfortable, providing effective results with minimal discomfort.

You may experience a mild warming sensation as the laser energy targets the veins, but it is usually not painful.

4. When will I see results after laser vein removal?

Most people notice improvement in the treated veins within 2-6 weeks after the procedure.

However, the final results may take months to become fully visible.

5. Are laser vein treatment results permanent?

Results from laser vein treatment are typically long-lasting, as the treated veins are closed off and gradually absorbed by the body.

New spider veins may form over time, due to factors like genetics and lifestyle. To maintain results, periodic maintenance sessions are advised.

6. Can laser vein treatment cause new veins to appear?

Laser vein treatment does not create new veins.

However, the factors that originally caused the visible veins – such as genetics, hormonal changes, ageing and lifestyle habits, may still be present after treatment. These factors can lead to new vein development over time. While the treatment is effective at diminishing the appearance of existing veins, it does not prevent new veins from forming. To manage and minimise the appearance of new veins, maintenance treatments combined with a healthy lifestyle are recommended.

7. After laser vein treatment, can veins appear worse before improving?

Immediately after laser vein treatment, it is possible for veins to appear worse before showing improvement.

Some patients might experience temporary inflammation of the treated veins, which can make them appear more noticeable. This is a normal part of the healing process. Over time, the veins will gradually fade and diminish as they are naturally absorbed by the body.

8. How does laser vein removal compare to sclerotherapy?

Sclerotherapy involves injecting a sclerosant (liquid or foam) into the veins, followed by wearing support hosiery for at least three weeks.

For some patients, combining sclerotherapy with laser treatment, performed at different times, provides the best results. However, in sensitive areas like the ankle or feet, laser treatment is safer due to the risk of accidentally injecting sclerosant into an artery.
