A long-lasting solution for removing unwanted
facial and body hair for smoother skin.

We understand that achieving hair-free skin by shaving, waxing, and plucking can be both frustrating and time-consuming. That’s why we’ve invested in one of the best hair removal lasers available – to provide you with a more efficient and long-lasting solution.

How does Laser Hair Removal work?

We use the innovative Cutera Xeo Laser which is an ideal option for those who are looking for a permanent reduction in hair growth on the face and body.

Suitable for all skin tones and genders, the device’s ND:YAG handpiece emits concentrated light energy that converts into heat to target and destroy hair follicles, all while keeping the surrounding skin protected and comfortable. The result is silky smooth skin with significantly reduced hair growth.

Laser Hair Reduction FAQs

1. How many laser hair removal treatments will I need?

The number of laser hair removal sessions you require depends on factors such as hair thickness, the area being treated, your hair’s growth cycle and hormonal changes and conditions.

Not all hairs will be in the same stage of growth simultaneously. They cycle through three phases: growth, regression, and resting. The Cutera Xeo laser targets hair in the active growth phase, but since hairs enter this phase at different times, multiple sessions are often required to effectively treat all follicles in the target area.

2. Is laser hair removal painful?

Thanks to its sophisticated technology and built-in cooling system that keeps skin protected and comfortable, the Cutera Xeo laser offers a virtually pain-free hair removal experience.

While some areas might feel a bit more sensitive, most patients describe the sensation as a mild tingle, like a rubber band snapping lightly against the skin.

3. Are laser hair removal results permanent?

The Cutera Xeo laser provides up to 80 per cent permanent hair reduction after completing the recommended treatment course.

Maintenance sessions will be required to continue this level of reduction. Factors such as hormonal changes (pregnancy, menopause) will enact new hair growth, requiring top-up sessions.

4. Is laser hair removal suitable for darker skin tones?

This treatment is safe and effective for all skin types and tones.

At Oatlands Aesthetics, our laser uses the ND:YAG 1064 nm wavelength, widely considered the gold standard laser for treating darker skin types. The longer wavelength allows the laser to successfully target the hair follicles whilst preventing any damage to the surrounding tissue.

5. Will laser hair removal cause scarring or skin damage?

The Cutera Xeo laser sets the benchmark for safety and precision in hair removal.

Its advanced technology precisely targets the hair follicles while protecting the surrounding skin, so there is minimal risk of scarring or skin damage.

6. How should I prepare for laser hair removal?

Avoid sun exposure, use of tanning beds and fake tan for at least two weeks before your treatment.

Fake tan must be fully removed from the treated area before treatment, we would recommend not applying fake tan for at least 2 weeks prior to treatment.

Shave the area to be treated 24 hours before your session to ensure that the laser can target the hair follicles effectively.

Refrain from using skincare products containing retinoids for 5-7 days before your appointment. Arrive with clean skin in the treatment area and avoid applying moisturisers or creams on the day of treatment.

7. Are there any restrictions after laser hair removal treatment?

After treatment, you can return to your normal activities.

Minimise sun exposure and use a broad-spectrum SPF30 sunscreen for 2 weeks following your treatment.

Avoid intense workouts and the use of hot tubs and saunas for a day or two after your treatment. You must refrain from waxing or plucking the hair between treatments as this hinders the laser’s ability to target and eliminate hair follicles.
