Targeted exfoliating treatment that rejuvenate aged and damaged skin.

Skin peels, also known as chemical peels, are treatments where a specialised solution is applied to the face to exfoliate the top layers of aged and damaged skin to reveal refreshed skin underneath.

There are three types of chemical peels:

  • Light/Superficial Peels
Gently exfoliate the top epidermal layer of skin with alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), beta hydroxy acids (BHAs) or retinoid solutions to treat acne, hyperpigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, poor tone and texture
  • Medium Peels
Uses trichloroacetic acid (TCA) or Jessner’s solution (salicylic acid, lactic acid and resorcinol) to reach the dermal (middle) layers and treat more specific ageing concerns and skin conditions
  • Deep Peels
Reaches the reticular dermis (the deepest layer of your skin) using phenol, which can significantly improve very aged and damaged skin but comes with much more severe side effects for a longer period of time

Here at Oatlands Aesthetics, we offer light/superficial and medium-depth chemical peels from the ZO Skin Health and DermaQuest ranges. Our skin peel collection allows us to treat many key concerns with minimal risk and discomfort, all without compromising on results.

Chemical Peel FAQs

1. Is a skin/chemical peel suitable for me?

Suitability for a chemical peel will depend on the extent of your skin concerns and your skin colour and type.

We’ll carefully assess your skin during a consultation to determine whether a peel will be appropriate and, if so, what type of solution will work best.

2. Which areas can be treated?

All areas of the face can be treated with skin/chemical peels, with more care and specific ingredients needed for the sensitive skin around the eyes.

The neck, hands, back and décolletage are also popular peel treatment areas, as these are often affected by sun damage and signs of ageing.

3. What happens during a skin/chemical peel treatment?

Prior to a peel, we may recommend certain skincare products to help prepare your skin for the procedure.

At your appointment, we will then cleanse your skin to remove all traces of make-up and debris.

The peel will then be gently applied to the treatment areas before being left for an appropriate amount of time to get to work. We’ll then apply a neutralising solution or wash to remove the solution from the skin before talking you through exactly what we’ve done and the results that we can see.

Finally, we’ll remind you of aftercare guidance, and invite you for your review appointment.

4. What results can I expect from a skin/chemical peel?

As the ingredients contained with skin/chemical peels can efficiently exfoliate dead skin cells and address multiple skin concerns, you can expect glowing and rejuvenated skin following treatment.

Of course, results will depend on the extent of your original skin concerns, the depth of the chemical peel and the strength of ingredients we use. A series of treatments is always recommended for optimal results.

5. Does a peel hurt and are there any side effects?

You may feel a slight tingling sensation as a skin/chemical is applied, but it generally doesn’t hurt.

We’ll recommend specific aftercare to ease side effects following your skin/chemical peel treatment.

6. Can I have other treatment alongside a skin/chemical peel?

Yes, we will often recommend a combination treatment approach to address all your skin and ageing concerns.

Medical grade skincare before and after is essential, while anti-wrinkle injections, dermal fillers, Profhilo, Laser Genesis and IPL can all boost results. Each treatment will be appropriately scheduled for optimum results.
